Aguascalientes

If you are here in the last two weeks of the month of April, or the first two weeks of the month of May, there won't be form that you get lost San Marcos' National Fair, the whole city it returns to the life with music that explodes in the heart and it is overturned by all the streets. This great fair has something for all, art exhibitions, music concerts, games, loud parties, bullfights, casinos, industrial and agricultural exhibitions, theater exhibitions, festivals and a lot of happiness.

History

The territory that today occupies the state of Aguascalientes was populated by indigenous chichimecas, nomadic groups that they slept in portable shacks or in caves. With arch and arrows caused big low to the Spanish armies that intruded in the region.

In 1575, Juan of Montoro, was presented in the face of the governor of the Kingdom of the New Galicia, to request the foundation of the Villa of the Asunción of the Aguas Calientes (Hot Waters), name suggested by the springs located toward the east and that so useful they were for the survival of the neighbors in that inhospitable and inclement lot.

In 1620 San Marcos' town was founded, it began for then the construction of Churches like San Diego, the Encino, San Marcos and, certainly the chapel that would be with the time the cathedral, dedicated to the Virgin of the Asunción, employer of the city.

From the beginning of the colonization until final of the XVIII century, Aguascalientes was the territory of frontier of the new Galicia. In 1810, when Aguascalientes requested the city title, it was already a significant and strategic point for displacement and supply of troops.

In accordance with their coat of arms, Aguascalientes is good people's earth; this motto mentions to the tranquility and the social peace, determinant for the development that today sews of the state and that they make of the life in him, to a pleasing experience.
