San Luis Potosí
Located in the fertile area of the north of the country, SAN LUIS POTOSI owes its existence and architectural splendor to the wealth of its mineral deposits, it is one of the colonial treasures of the north of Mexico together with the cities of Zacatecas and Guanajuato. San Luis Potosí was founded as a Franciscan mission in 1592, but it was not but until the discovery of the big deposits of gold and silver that there were in its bowels that it began the development of the area.

Their name was given in honor to XIV Luis from France and it was added Potosí because it was compared with the rich mines of gold in Bolivia. San Luis Potosí is almost a prosperous state, the silver extraction it has ended, but mines of Zinc and Lead exist with a considerable industrial base. San Luis Potosí, as city (capital of the State of the same name), it was founded November 3 1592. In 1863 and 1867, San Luis was Capital of the Republic. Here Juárez signed the sentence of death of Maximiliano. The time Porfiriana protected the peak of the City. For then magnificent buildings were built, San José's prey was made and the first railroad was inaugurated. When Francisco I. Madero lived prisoner in this City, it conceived "San Luis Plan" that the spark that began the Revolution of 1910 was.
